An early heavy metal steel helmet that would certainly protect you from flying shrapnel in the field . later the walls of the helmet become thinner . has been painted at some time and also has a later inner liner. on the back of the shell is stamped the number 42 . the helmet rim is a factory and period finishing. the helmet is a large head size.
